And the Winner Is...(Newbery, Caldecott, and Printz Winners)

On January 23, 2012, in the morning, librarians eagerly awaited the news of the winners of the annual Youth Mead Awards, which include the famous Caldecott (award for best pictures, er, illustrated book), Newbery (outstanding children's literature), and the Printz (best in teen literature). Before I tell you the big three, there are other awards as well offered by the American Library Association. You can read the full listing, plus honor books, in this press release by ALA. Now to the winners...

The Caldecott goes to...
A Ball for Daisy: illustrated by Christopher Raschka

The Newbery goes to...
Dead End in Norvelt: by Jack Gantos

The Printz goes to...
Where things come back : a novel: by John Corey Whaley

All of these links will take you to our catalog so you can request these titles. We're working on getting more copies!
